The Story Behind Our Hangul Research
This research began in the classroom, while teaching multicultural students, recently arrived immigrant students, students needing learning support, and students with special education needs who had not yet learned to read Hangul.
Building on the founding spirit of Hunminjeongeum, we researched a Hangul teaching method that lets anyone read Hangul easily and quickly, and put the results of that research into our books and learning materials.
This research continues today through our books, learning materials, teacher training, and real Hangul reading projects.

1학년 따라쓰기 후 글쓰기 발전
한글 쓰기는 저학년 때 잡아주지 않으면 고학년이 되어도 서너 줄을 못 넘깁니다. 따라쓰기는 정답을 스스로 만들어야 하는 부담 없이 자세와 필순, 문장 구조를 몸에 익히는 놀이 같은 훈련이라 입문기 학생의 심리적 저항이 가장 적습니다. 1학년을 스파르타식으로 쓰고 또 쓰게 했더니, 손이 먼저 기억한 문장이 곧 스스로 글을 짓는 밑거름이 되었습니다. 좋은 문장을 반복해서 따라 쓰는 동안 어휘력과 문장력까지 함께 쌓여, 이는 자전거 타기처럼 한 번 몸에 익으면 사라지지 않습니다. 결국 따라쓰기는 글쓰기의 우회로가 아니라, 창작 글쓰기로 가는 가장 확실한 지름길입니다.

한글은 창제자, 창제 원리, 창제 시기를 알 수 있는 문자이다. 세종대왕이 창제한 글자인 훈민정음의 제자원리와 운용법 등을 설명한 해설서인 훈민정음해례본에 따르면 자음은 발음기관의 모양을 본뜬(ㄱ, ㄴ, ㅁ, ㅅ, ㅇ) 상형과 기본 글자에 획을 더한(ㄱ ㅋ, ㄴ ㄷ ㅌ, ㅁ ㅂ ㅍ, ㅅ ㅈ ㅊ, ㅇ ㅎ) 가획의 원리에의해 만들어졌다. +이체자(ㄹ) 한글은 비교적 배우기 쉬운 문자라 여러 방법으로 익힐 수 있지만 세종대왕이 새 문자를 만드실 때 적용한 그 원리를 알면 더 쉽게 배울 수 있고 문자 속에 담긴 철학과 문화적 가치를 익힐 수 있다. 가획원리 익히기 자료를 수작업으로 일일이 자로 재어가며 수차례 수정을 거듭하며 도안으로 만들었다. 만들기 힘들거나 귀챦은 사람은 학토재 '가획원리카드' 구입 가능하다.

글씨 쓰는 법을 익힐 때 제대로 배우지 않으면 어른이 되어서도 악필이 될 가능성이 높다. 대부분의 사람들이 글씨를 바르게 쓰고자 하나 처음 선을 그을 때 어느 위치에서 시작해야하고 얼마만큼 획을 그어주어야 할 지 갈피를 잡지 못한다. 정형화된 활자 인쇄체 글씨를 보고 글씨 쓰기는 어렵다. 구체적으로 공간을 분할하여 선을 긋는 위치를 보여주고 따라 쓰게 하면 훨씬 쉽게 배울 수 있다. 한글 글자를 그림으로 접근하지 않고 선, 도형으로 접근하고 설계도 제도하듯이 보조선에 맞추어 위치, 길이를 정확히 맞추는 연습을 한다. 9칸 가로 2줄 세로 2줄 보조선 따라 그어야 하므로 완전한 글씨체는 아니며, 9칸 연습 후 4칸 공책 또는 칸 없는 공책에 글씨를 쓸 때 미세한 위치 이동으로 본인의 서체가 나오게 된다. 홍솔표 따라쓰기체로 한글 쓰는 법 익힌 이전 1학년 우리반 학생 글씨이다.
